On 17 August 2021, Freemuse, collectively with LGBT Asylum in collaboration with the renowned cultural home Union in Nørrebro, organised the cultural celebration Asylum, Art and Motion. The evening was a celebration of LGBTI+ refugees giving a varied and participating artistic programme showcasing neighborhood and global artists and speakers aimed at the visibility of LGBTI+ refugees.
Creative programme moderated by Yanaba Mompremier Rymark Sankoh, Head of Secretariat at LGBT Asylum, integrated the participation of Nicholas Chisha, a singer from Zambia, Michel, an activist from Colombia, Diva, a designer and stomach dancer from Jordan, Line Mompremier aka Aswè, a singer-songwriter from Haiti/United states of america, Jessica the Goddess of Like, Bart Staszewski, LGBT+ activist from Poland, Elias, a drag performer from Syria, Sekai Machache, a visible artist from Zimbabwe/Scotland, speakers from Nørrebro Delight and Main, a rapper.
The programme included a distinctive remark from Victor Madrigal-Borloz, UN Independent Expert on Safety towards violence and discrimination based mostly on sexual orientation and gender id.
The LGBTI World-wide Action Community (GAN) Workshop, organised by Freemuse on 19 August 2021, brought together companions representing the distinct artforms to talk about the state of artistic flexibility for LGBTI artists and artwork and examine techniques to tackle the difficulties that artists/activists and cultural personnel are experiencing.
