Javence Pizzeria in Central California offers pizzas with a Mexican flair.
“We are obviously Mexican and we just wanted to combine it. Why?” Says owner Veronica Womak.
She and her family started a pizzeria in Fresno in 2016. Its name “Javence” is made up of the first letters of all the names of her seven children.
“We started in a very small place, had little money and no followers. No one knew about us,” she says.
Veronica and her husband decided to be creative on their menu-and that gave birth to their Carne asada pizza.
“At first many were skeptical. We gave gifts so that people could try it … and the reaction was great. Everyone started to love it, and It’s our best-selling pizza, “she says.
The language spread and slowly Javence Pizzeria got something like a cult.
According to Veronica, customers come from all over the state and travel hundreds of miles to try out specialty pizzas.
In addition to Asada Pizza, we serve a combination of Mexican and American cuisine. Al Pastor pizza, asada fried with hot cheetos, chili verde pizza, carne asada carzone and more.
The business went well until the pandemic broke out and the landlord sold the rental property. But they are excited to reopen in Fresno’s new location and be ready to serve more customers.
There are many things to try besides Asada Pizza.
The menu includes Al Pastor pizza, Asada fried with hot cheetos, Chili Verde pizza and Carne asada Calzone. And they also offer classic pepperoni pizzas, tacos, and wings.
“We have a little bit of everything,” says Veronica.
